That depends on whether you're emotionally and financially ready. But if you can choose when to sell, it's best to wait until it's a "seller's market" in your area–when buyer demand is high and supply is low. Some other indicators that the market is good for sellers include:
- Mortgage interest rates are low, allowing buyers to finance larger mortgages
- Your area has a healthy economy and people feel optimistic about the future
- There's a jump in house buying activity (often in spring)
- Your area is considered especially attractive (e.g. good schools, low crime, weather, employment opportunities)
