Complete Just Ten Steps to Become a Real Estate Agent!
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage School of Real Estate has been offering pre-licensing and continuing education to the Mid-Atlantic Region for decades. As a leader in real estate education, CBRB School is one of the first to offer real estate education online.
Step 1 - Enroll in the Pre-Licensing Course To become a successful real estate agent, your first step is to complete the education requirements for the state in which you wish to become licensed. Serving the Mid-Atlantic Region, the CBRB School offers the 60 hour pre-licensing course entitled "Principles and Practices of Real Estate" required for the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. This same course is offered in the 99-hour format to meet the requirements for the State of Delaware. Check out the CBRB School of Real Estate website to learn more about class availability in your area.
Step 2 - Inquire About Joining the Coldwell Banker Team While enrolled in the pre-licensing course, complete the Join The Coldwell Banker Team inquiry form and submit it to the school. The school will send your contact information to the sales office manager as indicated on your form. The manager will contact you to talk about your career in real estate and answer any questions you may have.
Step 3 - Take Advantage of the Study Support Materials
Now that you are enrolled in the pre-licensing course, you can commit your time to the course instruction. Whether you are taking the course online or in a classroom setting, the school provides you with the tools to complete the course and pass the state licensing exam. Instructors will guide you through the course in the classroom setting. An instructor is always available via email.
Step 4 - Take the FREE Exam Prep Class
While completing the course and preparing to sit for the state licensing exam, online and classroom students alike can take advantage of the many study support materials offered by the school including a free Exam Prep Class.
- Flash Review The flash review comes in two formats; a PowerPoint presentation you can use on your personal computer or as a printable document. The flash review is a synopsis of the course material and a handy study tool in preparation to sit for the state licensing exam. Free to students enrolled in our program.
- Math Review Sometimes, a student will need a little extra assistance with math. The school provides a math review document containing practice math questions and answer key the student can use at home. Free to students enrolled in our program.
- Law Review & Study Outline Virginia and Maryland students can take advantage of a law review study tool using a state-specific practice law exam (with answer key) and a study outline. Free to students enrolled in our program. Students may also purchase an online study module.
- Worksheets Virginia and Maryland students may also take advantage of course worksheets prepared by the school. The worksheets are multiple choice and fill-in the blank questions (with answer key) covering the key terms and vocabulary contained in the course. These worksheets are a key study tool in preparation to sit for the state licensing exam. Free to students enrolled in our program.
- Exam Prep Classes For Virginia and Maryland students, the school schedules monthly exam prep classes. The instructor takes the student through the course material in a concise manner, helping the student prepare to sit for the state exam. The Virginia and Maryland exam prep classes are open to everyone and are free. All students may purchase additional online exam prep courses.
Step 5 - Register to Take the State Licensing Exam After completing the Principles and Practices of Real Estate course, each state requires you to take the state exam. Passing the state exam entitles you to a real estate license. As a licensed agent, you will be licensed to act as a buyer’s or seller’s real estate agent in property transactions. The school will provide you all the information and instructions to register for the state exam.
Step 6 - Schedule Date for the State Licensing Exam Now that you have completed the pre-licensing course and have registered to sit for the state licensing exam, schedule a date, time and location convenient for you. You schedule the exam with the same state testing company with whom you registered. Scheduling is most conveniently done by going to their website.
Step 7 - Apply for your Real Estate License and Join the Coldwell Banker Team. You passed the state exam. Now you can apply with the real estate commission/board for your real estate license.
